As I was painting, I noticed that the dried paint on the caps was an interesting shape, so I began to save them. I also saved the dried paint off my pallet. I wanted to create something interesting with this discarded paint. I had some canvases that I had started painting a scene on, and I took old, goopy paint and “glued” the discarded paint to the canvas. Then, to make it cohesive, I touched it up with more paint. I like to leave as much of the original color as possible. This actually lets the dried paint dictate the direction the piece goes in! I loved this process! It did take a while for me to get enough discard to work with, so I asked my art group for their dried up paint! This made the process even more exciting! It made it a sort of puzzle for me. Each one of these pieces is made of at least 80% discarded or recycled materials.
